Two Speedmaster Professional Watches With A 45 Year Age Difference

The First Speedmaster Professional Moonphase 1985

I really like how the date was incorporated in to the design. You rarely see a date window on the left side of a watch face, nice little change. I also like how it was added to an hour marker to preserve as much symmetry as possible. The camouflage on the face is stylistic in fashion, being modeled after a traditional camouflage look, not the tighter design we see in today's military. This could never be a stealthy hidden watch, even on a weekend warrior. So therein lies the contradiction, a very large bold watch, with the humor to suggest it is meant to blend in with a camo face. Prices are 00 plus, which is to be expected with this premium brand.

To get people excited about new products (or at least aware of then), watch makers need to advertise. This is clear. How they advertise varies greatly. Most of it in my opinion is rubbish. Never really does a good job of getting people excited about the products. At least not people like me. I prefer to see items in their "natural environment." Otherwise watch makers actually do something that is really funny, or just plain odd. Which is amusing because they are typically so conservative. At least Cartier is. Well Cartier is gonna hate me for saying this, but I have a feeling that their new Panther ad for the Les Must collection made a big oops. I refer to the ad at the top.

Omega Speedmaster 50th Anniversary Limited Series

This will be my first of several reviews on watches from the Marvin watch brand. In addition to sharing with you these interesting and attractive timepieces, I have an ulterior motive. You see, Marvin watches are not currently sold in the US. There is really no good reason for this, and I am trying to determine whether or not these watches would be in demand here in the States. I for one think that they would have a lot of appeal given their styling, construction quality, and fair prices. So, what do you think? Please comment and share your thoughts.

So, with that in mind - with the Marina Watch Collection by Gucci - you are mostly just buying the brand name here. Which, with Gucci, isn't a bad thing. I just think that if you want to show the world your taste and affection for nice things, you would be better served buying a bag or piece of jewelry - such as this exquisite Horsebit and Marina Chain Link necklace by Gucci.

Gold Speedmaster Professional BA 145.022

Trigalight tritium gas tubes are used on various places on the dial. Including for each hour marker and on the hands themselves. All the gas tubes are in the white color while the 12 o'clock indicator is in orange. Most of you are familiar with tritium gas tubes, but for those of you who are not, they are small tubes filled with lightly radioactive gas (no worries, that won't harm you one little bit) that glow by themselves nicely for about 25 years. This means that you never need to charge them in light, and they glow clearly in the dark. Tritium gas tubes are probably the best type of luminant out there and I highly recommend watches that use them for those who enjoy or need low light and no light watch dial reading. The most popular so far in the collection has been the Aviator Bucker Bestmann. This watch has a retro cream dial and an automatic three-hand ETA 2824-2 movement. The watch dial is no nonsense function, just like the place it was modeled after. I like the large file textured crown and the large size as some of the existing Traser watches have been small by today's tastes. You get a really classic aviator look with a hardy Swiss movement (visible through an exhibition caseback). On both bracelets is looks nice. I have included only a picture of the Aviator Bestmann on the bracelet, but it is the same bracelet for all the watches. Oh, and the automatic Aviator Bestmann model comes in a limited edition of just 200 watches. They may be sold out already! Price is about 0.

The reasons why people want to blacken their watches varies, but it usually comes down to being able to have a unique watch. People with large collections often alter watches that they have stopped wearing to revitalize them and bring back the joy of wearing them. Others envision what some of the watches we have in stock would look like in black and purchase them for that reason. Watches who's styles have faded into the fashion archives can be modernized with the treatment.

Like many BRM watches, the lugs are not only drilled but articulate for a better fit on your wrist. The dials of the watch are each a separate tone with emphasis on classic racing car gauges where metal was the material of choice. You can choose what the primary time is, while the other two dials serve as alternative timezones. Would make a good travel watch. BRM watches use a lot of high quality milled steel. You can tell that all the parts of obviously custom made by this unique French watch maker. B.R.M. 3MVT-52 Three Dial Watch Available On James List Sales & Auctions

Omega Seamaster Chronometer Replica Watches Hands-On

The case is 44mm wide (like I said) and in steel. There are sapphire crystals on the front and rear of the watch (AR coated on the face), with a very nicely decorated movement for the money. Not exactly sure who makes the movement. ETA, or Soprod, or alike. With 100 meters of water resistance, the watch is rugged, but you don't want to engage in water sports with it given the lizard strap that might not fare too well to prolonged water exposure. Price for the watch? A relatively reasonable ,800 on James List right now.

Swiss Angular Momentum is of the most experimental and artistic of all watch companies out there. Especially when it comes to sheer volume on interesting watches. Using the reserve sapphire crystal painting technique called Eglomisé, Angular Momentum has a plethora of fascinating styles and watches with paintings on them that you'll likely not see anywhere. A perfect example are these Verre Eglomisé "Animal Portrait" and "Exotic Birds" collection watches. Each is pretty limited in production and there are well over a dozen watches in the collection. Pictured are only four examples of particularly eccentric versions that I think epitomize the "risks" taken in the designs.

This is especially evident in the frog and the owl. Is there not something a bit Disney-esque about them? Then there is what you cannot see in the images, the "crazy seconds" eye of the latter two models or the flying...fly of the Chameleon model. If you aren't familiar with the watches, here is what that is. Inside the watches is an exclusive Girard Perregaux GP 4000 automatic movement that has a small disc for the subsidiary seconds as opposed to a hand. This disc is used as the left eye on the frog or the owl (and the fly) which means that the pupil will be seen to spin around - like a googly eye. I get a reminder of the animatronic characters on Disney Land rides that had such simple movements I recall enjoying being able to spot as a child while in a boat surrounded by water and theme music.

[Ed. note] giving a watch a black color is very popular these days and a PVD application is a high quality way of doing so. It can be done to an existing watch, and can radically change the look without damaging it. Plus, PVD is hard to wear or damage off.

high quality watch reproductions

Let me tell you about the newest and (coolest) new method that a luxury watch company is using technology to help prevent anyone making replica, counterfeit or fake watches from the brand. I don't always know why companies care so much about this, but it is true that as time goes on, fake watches are getting better. In an ideal world, there will be a simple and fool proof way to tell if a watch is authentic right away, from looking at the watch itself. We are not there yet. While this newest method (as applied to watches) is interesting, it still needs improvement as you need the paper work that comes with the watch to authenticate the timepiece. Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose as someone who is cunning enough is just going to match a questionable watch with real paper work? Maybe Parmigiani will figure out how to incorporate the system into the watches themselves.

But then again - this is just a quartz movement. So it's debatable about the price...

Here is one of those interesting watches that you'll dare not see being sold in America - at least most likely not. Which prompts me to remark once again, that there are many a splendid brand of timepiece that are simply not marketed or sold here in the States. So this is a watch by Zannetti, and determined Italian watch brand that I've spoken about before. This watch is the Squelette XL Automatic, and offers a nice set of easy to live with features. I like that, because it is an obviously avant garde watch, but you don't need to worry much about it being hard to live with.

Invicta Game Changers…

Price is on the higher side in my opinion, though it is competitive in comparable European diving watch. These custom models with the mother of pearl dials may carry a slight premium, but the standard models are about ,500 for the watch with the strap, and about ,200 for the 300 Pro Diver with the metal bracelet.
